The Spanish-style architecture of the French Quarter of New Orleans, Louisiana dates back hundreds of years to the 1700s. It is distinctive for the intricate, wrought iron balconies, central courtyards, and quaint doors and windows. Many balconies display Mardi Gras beads, which are collected by residents each year, as they are thrown by krewes from parade floats.
