Washington National Cathedral
Two gargoyles decorate the top of this buttress wall, frog gargoyle on the right. The Washington National Cathedral in Washington, DC is home to more than 200 stone-carved gargoyles. The purpose of the gargoyles were to both keep evil out of the cathedral and to serve as a water drainage system in torrential rain - the water pours out of the mouth of the gargoyle.
