Malaria is the leading cause of death in children under five in sub-Saharan Africa. In the town of Djibo in northern Burkina Faso, this young child suffers from malaria, a disease transmitted through the bite of an infected mosquito. (Note: After later being seen at the town's military health center and receiving artemisinin-combination therapy, this child recovered.)
